Mechanical Fitter – MRO

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our MRO team. This position is a pivotal part of the team, where you will be part of the Survey & Fitting team in a modern, open plan manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible for the surveying and dismantling of equipment, cleaning and surveying the equipment to drawings, rebuilding small sub-assemblies and assembling new mechanical assemblies.
Our position requires someone who is multiskilled and happy to work within all of the Fitting areas of the business. You must have excellent fitting and bench fitting skills to ensure the equipment is surveyed and manufactured to the highest industry standards.
The main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Undertaking a full programme of training under direct supervision to becoming a Mechanical Fitter
- Surveying, building and manufacturing items from component level to sub-assembly level through to assembly of complete systems (on occasions) under direct supervision
- Receiving and carrying out work instructions from the MRO Manager
- Booking time worked to the correct cost code using the company’s ERP system
- Recording survey results
- Training and supporting other personnel within the MRO and Fitting areas when own training is complete
- Any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role
About the Person
To be a successful candidate for this role you must be able to demonstrate the below attributes and skillsets:
- A skilled, experienced mechanical fitter. Machine builder, assembly technician
- Completed a recognised apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter, Machine Builder, Assembly Technician or similar
- Be educated to a minimum of NVQ / City & Guilds level 3 in a relevant discipline
- Able to read and fully understand technical engineering drawings for assembly and component parts
- Must have excellent bench fitting skills using a variety of hand and electric tools
- Be able to use a selection of manual machine tools such as Lathes, Milling Machines, Surface Grinders and Pedestal Drills, working to tight tolerances
- Have the ability to use precision measurement equipment such as Micrometers, Vernier’s and Slip Gauges
- Experience in using lifting and slinging equipment.
- Be a good team player with the ability to work using own initiative when required
- Have the aptitude to produce workmanship to the highest industry standards
- Work in a safe and orderly manner to ensure all company H&S standards are adhered to
- Work at an acceptable pace to meet deadlines, without sacrificing H&S & Quality standards
- Be willing to train or be trained by others when required
- Be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised when required
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Working as part of the Fitting team but also required to work and communicate with other departments during production such as Mechanical Fitters, Test Engineers and Engineering
- Opportunity to travel overseas (on occasions) to support FSE department, which is optional
- Working in a modern manufacturing facility
- Pressurised role working to tight time schedules

- Compressed working hours Monday – Thursday 0815 – 1700/ Friday 0815 – 1245 **Half day Fridays**
